Denver Restaurant Week 2009
My brother ( Jeff ), his girlfriend ( Sabrina ) , Ethan and I decided we would take part in Restaurant Week. $52.80 a couple at a VERY fancy restaurant of your choice that participates in this deal. We chose The Fresh Fish Company. We've heard so MANY fantastic things, even from my parents. We were all very excited. We met up with Sabrina and my brother at my parents house at 800 to be at the restaurant for our reservations at 830. Driving alllll the way out to I-25 and Hampden, we were all so hungry and excited. The outside of the restaurant doesnt really make you feel like its super fancy but we werent going to turn away, especially after seeing some couples come out dressed up a little more than we were. Took us about 10 minutes to get sat, even though the restaurant was not busy. Tom was our server and was very friendly and willing to describe anything and answer all our questions. We decided we would start with appitizers, we got crab and artichoke dip, the dip was inside of a whole artichoke, TOTALLY EXCITING, we also got calamari, another fav. Once they were served we all were not impressed, yes the artichoke part was good cause thats always good but the dip tasted like they bought it from King Soopers, nothing fancy like you would think. Then we had our soups and salads. We all got the caeser salads and Sabrina got Clam Chowder. She said hers was not very good at all, also came with a BAG of oyster crackers ( CHEAP! ) our salads had SO much dressing on them it was hard to eat. Now the dinners start coming, I will start with Sabrina and Jeff, they had filet migeon and lobster tails. Jeff wanted his rare and Sabrina medium, both of theres was put on the table BLACK the mushrooms on top of the steak were canned and not tasty. Their lobster tail was RUBBER and WAYYYY over cooked. BUT on the plus side the steamed veggies they had were very tasty and cooked JUST right! Ethan had a 10 oz prime rib with grilled garlic shrimp. He asked for his meat to be medium. Probably 6 oz of the meat was fat, the other parts were rare and wells done ( HOW DO YOU MESS THAT UP!?!?!??!?!?!?!?!) Again though his garlic mashed potatoes were awesome!! Now me , poor little me. I decided to have the scallops and king crab. My side I chose vanilla yams, they were sweet and lovely and really good. My scallops were NOT cooked fully and had no flavor what so all. The king crab was LITERALLY pulled out of the shells and thrown onto the side of the plate. I also had to pull shells out of my mouth, thank god I didnt break a tooth. The key lime pie was okay, probably also bought from King Soopers. We made a comment to our WONDERFUL ( and I mean that ) waiter who was really in shock and just wanted to make things better. He sent over the manager who to me, was a moron. We ended up having a $28.00 bill. He had taken off all meals but one, should have been $140! We gave the waiter $28.00 for a tip as well cause it really wasnt his fault and we really werent saying anything to get a discount we just wanted them to know how horrible of an experience we had. ** SIDE NOTE ** Manger had a small pony tail at the nape of his neck with a real RUBBER BAND. Just thought it was funny. ** END SIDE NOTE ** Poor Sabrina was really not feeling well after, Ethan and I went to bed at 1130 and barely slept! So LONG story short, very bad experience with The Fresh Fish Company, I would NOT ever reccommend anyone go there!!!
By the way Jenn stumbled upon a new blog someone has made. It has a new premise to it that we all always think. Should be funny to follow it. Take look!
